Feeding Guide
Good feeding is about balance. Below is general guidance for the small animals we cater for. Always introduce new foods gradually and make sure fresh water is available at all times. For any health concerns, please speak to your vet.
Rabbits & Guinea Pigs
Grass hay should make up around 80% of a rabbit or guinea pig’s diet — it’s essential for gut health and worn-down teeth. Add a handful of leafy forage and herbs daily, with flowers, roots and dried veg as occasional treats. Guinea pigs also need a daily source of vitamin C.
Hamsters, Gerbils, Mice & Rats
These small rodents enjoy a varied diet. Our seed-free plant mixes, dried veg and forage make great foraging enrichment scattered in their enclosure. Offer treats in small amounts — a pinch is plenty for a hamster or gerbil — to avoid overfeeding.
Treats & Forage
Dried flowers, herbs and gnaw sticks are perfect for enrichment and dental health. Treats should make up no more than around 10% of the daily diet. Chew sticks help keep ever-growing teeth in good shape.
Introducing New Foods
- Introduce one new food at a time, in a small amount.
- Watch for any change in droppings or appetite over 24–48 hours.
- Increase gradually once you know it agrees with them.
- Always provide unlimited hay and fresh water.
